Welcome!

My name is Tom Cannon, and I have been a licensed counselor in the state of Maine since 2008. For the past 25 years, I have focused my efforts on human development and understanding human nature, motivation, and the process of intentional change.

Whether you are new to counseling or continuing the process of therapy, my focus is to help you achieve your goals. Typically this involves what I call a parallel process, whereby we look to see what short-term changes we can make in your behavior or current situation, and also look to more deeper issues that are impacting you. I use a variety of models and evidenced based practices to help you achieve your goals, and am informed by my years of meditation, yoga and mindfulness practices.

I focus on helping you to clarify what’s most important in your life, and how we can increase awareness, intention and discipline to bring more of those qualities into your life. I typically use a model for psychotherapy called Internal Family Systems, but ultimately use a variety of approached based on what we think will be most effective for you and your situation.
